Mother’s Day Weekend
I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother’s Day! Every year for Mother’s Day I take my mom to a new winery. It is a tradition we started about five years ago when I was on a business trip in California and she came out to visit me. We were in an area of California, not far from Napa. To celebrate Mother’s Day that year we spent the day in Napa Valley. Since then we have celebrated each Mother’s Day at a new winery. My mom and I both love wine, so it is a great way for us to spend some special time together.
Hidden Hills Farm and Vineyard
For our Mother’s Day outing this year, we wanted to stick close to home. Lucky for us, just a couple of weeks ago a new winery opened up just down the road from us. The newest winery in Frederick County Maryland is Hidden Hills Farm and Vineyard.
Hidden Hills Farm and Vineyard has a beautiful tasting room on a 103 acre horse farm. The tasting room overlooks their large equestrian center and the rolling hills where the horses run. There is also plenty of patio seating to take in the views.
Hidden Hills Farm and Vineyard is currently offering four types of wine for tastings. On their tasting menu they have three whites and a red available. We sampled their Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Vidal Blanc and Cabernet Franc. Their focus is on varietals that will produce quality wines in this region and you will only find dry wines here.
My mom and I decided to share a bottle of Chardonnay to celebrate Mother’s Day. We had a lovely time sitting at the tasting bar and talking with the owner and her son who poured our tastings. The family atmosphere was very inviting. We could tell that they took great care in producing their wine and educating their customers on their products. We look forward to seeing what Hidden Hills Farm and Vineyard produces in the future.
