Morning Ritual – Green Smoothie

I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend, I know I sure did! The new Beauty and the Beast  came out on Friday and I got to go to the theater on Saturday to see it. It was awesome, I would definitely recommend seeing it if you have not yet.

Today I want to tell you all about my morning ritual of making my green smoothie. I have made green smoothies for breakfast for over two years now. I get told a lot that it looks really gross and then I always get asked what is in it. So for those of you that are curious about green smoothies, I am going to share what goes into mine.

Green Smoothie

I know it does look gross, but I promise, my green smoothie tastes delicious. It honestly mainly tastes like fruit, which I love. I make green smoothies for many reasons. Such as when you have to be out the door to work in the morning and don’t really want to eat anything yet, but you need something on your stomach. They are also a healthy meal option and they are great to take on the go!

What is in my Green Smoothie?Ingredients for Green Smoothie

  • Water
  • 2 tablespoons of Apple Cider Vinegar
  • About a handful or so of fresh baby spinach
  • A banana
  • Frozen Mixed Fruit (I buy the tropical blend from Walmart usually.)
  • Greek Vanilla Yogurt

The great thing about the smoothie is you can adjust it to your taste. You can add whatever ingredients you want to make the smoothie taste the way you want it to. When I started making smoothies I was not sure if I would like them and stick to it, so I started out with a small blender. You can follow this link to find the Hamilton Beach Single Serve Blender I started with. It was a great starter blender and Green Smoothieworked very well. As time went on and I knew I was going to be making smoothies every day, I upgraded to the Magic Bullet. It comes with a lot more pieces and is great for making other things than just smoothies too.

Apple Cider Vinegar

I really started drinking green smoothies to mask the taste of my apple cider vinegar. My smoothie does a great job of hiding the taste because I really do not like the taste of apple cider vinegar, but have found some great benefits from it so I continue to take it each day. I have really bad sinuses year round, and apple cider vinegar has helped relieve my sinus pressure headaches that I used to get daily. It has also helped me with acid reflux and indigestion. I have heard different stories of how people use apple cider vinegar and I believe it helps different people in different ways. I know it helps me feel better each day, so I will keep taking it.

Green smoothies are not for everyone, but it doesn’t hurt to try. Before I started drinking green smoothies I was probably one of those people who crinkled their nose and said ew, that looks gross. Now I don’t really know how I would start my day without it, it is like my morning coffee. It you have thought about giving green smoothies a try but are not too sure, trust me when I say they really are good, and you can adjust them to suite your taste buds!

Do you already drink green smoothies? If you do, tell me in the comments below what you put in yours. 🙂
